SPACE 123
Come on and test your space knowledge!

As part of my "Responsive Environment" course at university I had the opportunity of working with motion tracking in the context of interactive media. In a group of three we worked out an idea to design an interactive wall for a temporary exhibition about space at a local kids museum.
The Scenario

An astronaut asks museum visitors to help him answer questions. Inspired by the quiz show for children "1, 2 oder 3", questions will appear on the screen and can be answered by positioning yourself in front of the right answer along the screen (1,2 or 3).
The aim is for children to test their knowledge about space after visiting the museum.

My Role
For Space 123 I held a variety of responsibilities:

I illustrated three versions of the astronaut, the background and the speech bubbles. Afterwards I started animating the background to move subtly and let some stars shine through here and then. To add more movement I let the speech bubbles pop up every time our little astronaut had to say something.

The Process

First I roughly sketched out the sequeces of how the game should work

Then I continued illustrating in Photoshop and animated each element in After Effects

Intro

Normally the astronaut wobbles around on the idle screen but if someone walks in front of the screen, the sensors will send out a signal and the intro with all the rules will start playing.

Questions
Now the questions appear and the user has 15 seconds to step in front of the right answer.

WRONG!
After answering the question wrong the user can try again.

RIGHT!
If they choose the right answer, the game will continue.
